Mooney Falls

This is Mooney Falls, a short hike (3/4 Mile) from Havasu Campgounds.   These falls are 200 feet high.    We used to take the students down to the bottom.   The climb down for 80 students took a long time and was made more precarious each year by erosion of the winter floods, so we now just have them take photos at the top.   The lagoons at the bottom are shallow and it's very cold down there except around noon when the sun shines straight down.

Climbing down at Mooney Falls

These are our seventh graders climbing down to the bottom of Mooney Falls.   You can't swim down there. It's shallow, shady and very cold and you had to climb through tunnels. Most of the fun was in climbing down which took some time.
