This is Candy in the village of Supai standing in front of the general store. The mail that goes out from this box is packed on horses then goes to Hilltop. From Hilltop it travels on conventional vehilces to the US Postal Service from this Havasupai Reservation. The mail is stamped with a unique picture because this route is the last remnant of the Pony Express still operating in the USA. The students can buy post cards two days prior, then mail them to their parents from here. The post cards will arrive with the special cancellation mark as a momento of the Trek. Candy is a School district board member's wife and a Volunteer. Use your browser's back button to return. |
