Back Home Again

. We were supposed to stop for lunch at a rest stop just east of Mojave California, but it was closed for upgade work.   So we went into the town of Mojave and found a City Park that worked just fine.    Here Mr Ryan Knapp is playing with the students after lunch. While this is happening, the rooms are being assigned at a motel in town.

. The last night of the trip, in Mojave, California, we take the students to a pizza place near the motel.   They have just finished swimming, bathed, and are very hungry.   Some students have a birthday during the trek so we usually sing to them here at this pizza place.   Hear the students sing. ......MP3 sound 31K

. On the last day we stop in Tehachepi California for breakfast and get a chance to say goodbye.   All the students and chaperones give each other a goodbye hug.

. This student's family is glad to her home again.   They certainly have gone out of their way to welcome her home.   Looks like they missed her a lot.   The students have a lot to talk about with their parents tonight.

Ending Note from the Author

I have been on this trek many times.   Recently I've noticed something I never thought I would find.   Like many things I've lost I find them right under my nose.   Do you remember the fables about the Fountain of Youth?   I never looked for it but I think I found it but it's not what I thought it would be.   Each year on this trek I keep growing older but the students I photograph never get older.   This I think is the proverbial Fountain of Youth.   It's our seventh graders who never grow older.
