We stop at a park in Bakersfield California to eat lunch. It has a nice play ground and plenty
of trees and grass. These students like the swings. At this age the students
still enjoy the swings which were probably meant for younger childern.

At the end of the first day we stop at a motel in Needles California. It's been a
long day and it's very warm here but bathing in the pool will make it alright. Mrs. Lupita Montijo
and Mr. Phil Pucinelli and Mr. Dan Guadalupe hand out room keys to the boys. They can shower
after a long drive and then go swimming.

Our students practically fill the small pool but the water is cool and the weather is
hot. The students are always supervised while swimming. Ms. Jaclyn Kordell
is at the far side of the pool. Students are not allowed phone calls home this first
night. Tomorrow night at the Grand Canyon they can call home.

On the second afternoon we stop for lunch at Williams Arizona. The weather is
very unpridictable here. The altitude here is 6000 ft. One year we were making
sandwiches in the snow here. Today we have very pleasant weather. We will arrive
at the Grand Canyon campground in two hours.
