On the return trip from rafting at Page Arizona we came to a motel in Flagstaff Arizona.
The students near me on the bus took one look at this and said 'this is the wrong
motel'. The motel in Page was so much better but we got a good price at this one.

See why I answered his question like this 'six feet of air'.....Large picture 57K We ate dinner that night at a very nice restaurant (pizza).....Large picture 65K | |
The next morning we had a special treat for
breakfast...donuts and milk. They can also have cereal.
Here Mr.Ryan Knapp and Mrs. Candy Burns help the students choose. It's a hard
choice, there are so many interesting ones and they must pick one. We have a
hygiene rule they must follow (You touch it, it's yours). Move it along now. .....Large picture 73K |

This is Sunset Crater National Park. The whole black mountain behind the students
is covered with lava. We didn't hike to the top, just a short hike on a well kept
trail.
It's very close to Flagstaff Arizona, and is at an altitude of 6000 feet above sea
level. About a 1000 years ago these craters were spuing molten lava.
This is not in the desert, not hot and it's very beautiful here.

Next we visited Wupatki Ruins not far from Sunset Crater. These structures were
made by the Wupatki natives several hundred years ago. They tell us it was sort
of a once a year meeting place for them.

This is Walnut Canyon Park. Here are the cliff dwellings made by the native
indians in this area. Some native americans living in this area have great grand
fathers who remember living in a cliff dwelling like these.

This night we ate dinner at a 1950's style restaurant where you could have an old fashion
hamberger and milk shake. We also celebrated Mrs. Adriana catlidge's
birthday. Adriana is one of our two bus drivers. She has driven bus
for this trek a number of years. She likes driving the bus for us.
