To hike on the Grand Canyon Kaibab trail you must go by shuttle to the visitor center then take
a Kaibab Shuttle to the trail head. Here we are boarding the Kaibab
Shuttle. It took three shuttles to get us all to the trail head.
Private cars are not allowed to park at the Kaibab trail head.

We are starting down the Kaibab trail. It's quite steep and there are many many
stairs. We are only going 1 1/2 miles down then returning back, but we are
dropping about 2000 feet in elevation. Going down is not hard and there is a
lot of shade on the trail. .....Large picture 79K |

Here's where we stop hiking and have a snack and rest
before hiking back up the trail. The views on this trail are spectacular.
It's not hot yet, and soon we will find how steep this trail really is.

These are the rest room facilities at this rest stop on the Kaibab trail.
There is plenty of room, toilet tissues and Wow! They don't even smell bad.
They have done a lot of work here for the trail hikers.
